20 must see acts at Electric Picnic 2014

Electric Picnic 2014 finally descends upon Stradbally Hall in County Laois this weekend (Friday, August 29th to Sunday, August 31st). With such a rich array of artists performing at this year’s festival here is The Last Mixed Tape’s 20 music see acts in order of appearance. 

SLEEP THIEVES – Body & Soul Stage on Friday, August 29th (5pm)
A trio with a simply captivating sound, Sleep Thieves have emerged as one of the Irish music scene’s most promising acts with the album You Want The Night making them a definite must see.

THE ALTERED HOURS – Body & Soul Stage on Friday, August 29th (8pm)
One of Ireland’s most irrepressibly energetic live act the Altered Hours powerful alternative-rock edge will provide the perfect example of the eclectic aspect of this year’s line-up.

CARRIAGES – Oxjam Tent on Friday, August 29th (Midnight)
Featuring as part of Homebeat’s Oxjam tent line-up, experimental-folk duo Carriages’ music has all the vivid vibrancy to more than match the Electric Picnic festival atmosphere.

LITTLE XS FOR EYES – Oxjam Tent on Friday, August 29th (1am)
Irish indie-pop at it’s very best, Little Xs For Eyes sound will be perfectly set to start a weekend of summer festival celebrations especially with track such as ‘Summer Stay’ and ‘Somewhere with a Dance Floor’.

BANTUM – Oxjam Tent on Friday, August 29th (1.45am)
Following a busy month of music videos and single releases Bantum will bring his unique electronic style to the Oxjam stage this Friday.

GIRL BAND – Body & Soul Stage on Friday, August 29th (9.15pm)
Noise-rock act Girl Band captured the attention of many with their stellar single ‘Lawman’ and more recently ‘De Bom Bom’. A joyously raucous live group the Dublin four-piece are a must see in any context.

MONGOOSE – Body & Soul Stage on Saturday, August 30th (2pm)
Jazz-folk group Mongoose are quickly to establish a name for themselves as engaging live performers whose brilliant blend of the jazz and folk genres is unmistakably singular.

SINEAD WHITE – Earthship Stage on Saturday, August 30th (3.45pm)
With Ireland currently home to a myriad of great songwriters Sinead White has shown real promise and talent, defining herself with intricately written music and a beautifully crafted vocal performances.

GANGS – Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow on Saturday, August 30th (5.30pm)
Very few band have burst onto the Irish music scene with as much intent as Dublin four-piece Gangs. With their straight-to-the-point indie-rock sound and infectious pop sensibilities the band are even more thrilling live.

WONDER VILLAINS – Oxjam Tent on Saturday, August 30th (10pm)
One would be hard pressed to find a band with such a joyously vibrant take on the indie-pop genre. Infectiously upbeat and as energetic as they come, Wonder Villains are a group on ascendancy.
