In this edition of The Last Mixed Tape’s song-of-the-week feature The Mixed-Tape, we turn our attention to ‘Coast’ by Participant.
Marking a sea change in sound for Participant, ‘Coast’ is an intimate and isolating take on the folk genre shrouded in a sense of icy atmosphere that gives way to a large tide of string swells that engulf the song and just as suddenly disappear.
The first track to be taken from Participant’s upcoming E.P. Modern Retelling, ‘Coast’ draws a line in the sand and marks a move into new sonic territory for Participant that holds onto the artist delicate songwriting core whilst expanding it into new directions.
Participant Tour Dates:
Nov 15 – BelloBar – Dublin
Nov 16 – Brewery Corner – Kilkenny
Nov 22 – The Record Room – Limerick
Nov 23 – The Roundy – Cork
