In this edition of T.L.M.T’s song of the week feature The Mixed-Tape we turn our attention to Paddy Hanna’s brand new single ‘Austria’.
Last year Paddy Hanna confidently stepped into the role of solo artist with his debut Leafy Stiletto, now Hanna has re-defined and perfected his sound with ‘Austria’.
Feeling like the natural culmination of his previous recordings, ‘Austria’ jangles and bounds to the deeply layered indie-pop and folk influences of his music while also introducing a more widescreen production to the mix.
As with all of Paddy Hanna’s songwriting the real heart of it lies within the lyrical and vocal core. Expressing longing, hope and helpless romanticism Hanna perfectly captures the mood of the song with a vocal performance that exudes charisma and charm, while also showing the ability to move emotionally.
‘Austria’ is without doubt the best we’ve seen from Hanna thus far, and that’s saying a lot considering the brilliance of Leafy Stiletto. One can only wonder what the future holds for one our most promising songwriters.
