Culture Night 2016 descends upon Dublin this Friday night with several exciting music events happening the city. Here’s eight music events TLMT recommends you not to miss.
Booka Brass Band & Black Bank Folk – Tower Records: 6pm
Tower Records will once again be a place of interest for music fans during Culture Night, with the record store hosting live music from both Booka Brass Band and Black Bank Folk.
Heathers – Lighthouse Cinema: 5pm
Alternative-pop duo Heathers will be performing (7pm) as part of the Lighthouse Cinema’s Culture Night festivities this Friday. There will also be a screening of Song of the Sea (6pm).
AMOON, Dorota Konchevska & WTRDRPS, Brian Conniffe & more – A4 Sounds: 5pm
Artist workspace A4 Sounds will be opening its doors for Culture Night 2016, hosting a night of film screenings, animation, workshops and live music from: AMOON / Dorota Konchevska & WTRDRPS / Brian Conniffe / Bleak Stack / Niamh de Barra.
Culture Night Market – Generator: 5pm
Generator hostel in Smithfield will host a special pop-up market for Culture Night 2016 as well as an after-party with DJ sets from Sim Simma.
Riona Sally Hartman, Pearse McGloughlin, Steve Lynch – Foras Na Gaeilge: 8pm
A celebration of Irish music and poetry including sets from Riona Sally Hartman, Pearse McGloughlin, Steve Lynch and Marcus Mac Conghail.
An evening with Ryan Sheridan – IMRO: 7pm
Singer-songwriter Ryan Sheridan will be taking part in a night of music and conversation at the Irish Music Rights Organisation HQ during Culture Night 2016
Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire: 5pm
Live music from Lisa Lambe, theatre From Eden, and two film screenings of Song of the Sea and music documentary Paul Simon Under African Skies all taking place at the Pavilion in Dun Laoghaire.
A Celebration of Traveller Music – The Cobblestone: 8.30pm
The Cobblestone in Smithfield will host a night of live music with performances from: Thomas Mc’Carthy, Stephen Pecker Dunne, Trish Nolan, Bernie McDonagh, Katie Theasby and Ron Kavana, Eoin Dillon and Stephen Wall. As well as an open mic session.
