Cork band the Hard Ground have released a suitably surreal music video for their brand new single ‘Two By Two’.
Directed by Pat Kiernan, the video for ‘Two By Two’ plays with the changing sounds and dynamics of the music. Using sudden edits and surrealist film techniques, Kiernan’s visuals convey the mystery and intrigue that permeates throughout the Hard Grounds music while also using these images to create a sense of fun.
The stand-out single in the Hard Ground’s ambitious three E.P/ album series Triptych, ‘Two By Two’ is characterized by the band’s ability to throw everything at a song in terms of production and structure yet still make it work, without sounding cluttered or overcooked. Indeed, the track is an encapsulation of the dramatic, yet off-kilter, nature of the record as a whole.
