Big Bang Festival 2015 to take place this weekend

This weekend (July 17th – 19th) will see the Big Bang festival of Rhythm take place in multiple locations around Dublin City.

The three-day festival will include live music from an array of rhythmically led artists such as: Sona Jobarteh, Kakatsitsi Master Drummers, Los Musiqueros, AnTara & more. As well as workshops, master classes, dance, children’s events and outdoor spectacle.

The festival will come to a close this Sunday evening with the Improvised Music Company’s annual Hotter Than July FREE outdoor live music event at the Meeting House Square in Temple Bar from 2pm to 8pm, and will include performances from Havana Che, Jiggy, Yurodny and more.

This year’s festival also entails drumming WORKSHOPS with the Kakatsitsi Master Drummers of Ghana (10am, Sat 18th, The Lab Foley St), a bodhran workshop with Tommy Hayes (12.30pm, Sat 18th, The Lab, Foley St), African Dance Workshops with Catherine Young, (7.30pm Thursdays in July @ Liffey Trust) and two workshops, designed specifically for participation in Sunday’s Hotter Than July event, African Drumming on Friday evening 17th (7pm venue tbc) and West African Dance on Saturday 18th 12pm, Dancehouse.
