Cork-based band MKAI have unveiled a live version of some brand new material from the band, in the form of the song ‘Gimmick’.
Taking on a far more electronic edge in comparison to MKAI’s recent single ‘Loop’, this live rendition of ‘Gimmick’ showcases the band delving into indietronica based territory.
Sitting on a bedrock of popping and clicking synth sounds and the group’s driving rhythmical interplay, Cian MacSweeney’s vocal seems pointed and direct, adding to the sparse tonally dark mood of the track.
MKAI continue to evolve, with ‘Gimmick’ the band have given a further glimpse in another aspect to their sound alluded to in their previous singles ‘Waiting’ and ‘Loop’.
MKAI will play this year’s Indiependence music & arts festival in Cork on Friday, July 31st. For more information visit indiependencefestival.com.
