Today the Last Mixed Tape has clocked in it’s first year online following an amazing first 12 months for the site.
Since TLMT first began in February 2014 the blog has always been about bringing readers an alternative take on the indie scene. In the past year we’ve been lucky enough to have been witness to one of the most exciting eras in Irish music.
Indeed, it’s incredibly easy to write about new acts that are so creative and inspiring. With so many different styles, sounds and genres coming out of the country at the moment, as well as the emergence of bespoke live events, TLMT has been able to highlight, meet and work with some of the most inventive new music in the last twelve months. While also been witness to several stand-out gigs.
With this in mind, I hope that TLMT has in someway introduced readers to a song, artists, venue, event promoter or idea that has stayed with you. We’ve garnered a really informed readership since February and there is no better compliment to the blog than for someone to say they found a new favorite band/track through reading the site.
Tonight we celebrate our debut year and begin our difficult second album (year 2) with a show at the Odessa Club featuring Swords, Dear Desert and i am niamh. Full details below. Come along and say hi!
Tickets to Homebeat presents: The Last Mixed Tape’s first birthday show at the Odessa Club on February 12th are priced €10 and are available via entertainment.ie. Doors are at 8pm, for more information visit the event’s Facebook page.
