In this edition of T.L.M.T’s song of the week feature The Mixed-Tape we turn our attention to Elastic Sleep’s brand new song ‘Slip’.

Thrashing and jolting from the outset, Elastic Sleep’s latest single ‘Slip’ merges the weighty dynamic edge of the group’s music to the fore while still exuding the ethereal dream-pop ambience that gives them such a unique and engrossing sound.

Moving from slow-burning bass driven passages that shimmer with flickers of glistening guitar, surrounding Muireann Levis’ reverb soaked voice, to large-scale impactful lifts of distortion fueled rage that engulf the singer’s texturally juxtaposed performance, ‘Slip’ highlights Elastic Sleep ability to meld these two separate elements into something captivating yet ominous.

Pushing and pulling at the boarders of the group’s sound. ‘Slip’ growls with intent and joyously subverts expectations with its exhilarating blend of dream-pop and alternative-rock.

A band who constantly captivate and intrigue with their music, Elastic Sleep continue to evolve and augment their sound in a way that feels natural. One of the country’s most promising acts both in the studio and live, it’ll be interesting to see how the five-piece will continue to expand and explore the boundaries of their own music.

It is for these reasons that ‘Slip’ by Elastic Sleep is this week’s addition to The Mixed-Tape.
