Indie-pop act Riot Tapes have released their new music video for the group’s current single ‘Cardinal Rules’.
Directed by band member Chris O’Brien, the video for ‘Cardinal Rules’ a visually dense and layered aesthetic that fits the glistening, large-scale indie-pop sound of Riot Tapes themselves.
With its hand-held intrusive camera work intently fixating on vocalist Elaine Doyle, intercut with scenes of people holding signs with the lyrics ‘I don’t want to be somebody else’, the video progresses with layered visual effects and a knowing sense of fun (instilled by the group’s interaction with passers-by during filming).
With its lush electro tinged production and powerful central vocal, ‘Cardinal Rules’ is an attention grabbing new single from the Dublin band. The song also appeared as part of T.L.M.T’s song-of-the-week feature The Mixed Tape.
