Castlepalooza 2014 takes place this weekend (Friday August 1st to Sunday August 3rd) in Charleville Castle in Tullamore County, Offaly with a stunningly eclectic line-up, spanning several genres. Here is the Last Mixed Tape’s 10 must see acts.
Sleep Thieves – Friday, August 1st Metro Herald Stage (7.30pm)
With the release of their stellar new album You Want the Night Sleep Thieves have quickly identified themselves as one of the must see Irish acts of the moment. Coupled with the scenic surrounds of Castlepalooza, the trio will be the perfect starting point for the festival weekend.
Otherkin – Saturday, August 2nd Metro Herald Stage (1.30pm)
A group on the ascendancy Otrherkin’s recent E.P. As A High and subsequent live shows showcase exactly how powerful the alternative-rock band’s sound is.
Conor Linnie – Saturday, August 2nd Vodafone Main Stage (5pm)
Conor Linnie is a songwriter with a vibrant, eclectic storytelling ability. As a live performer Linnie effectively translates the energy and subtly of his music.
Elaine Mai – Sunday, August 2nd Metro Stage (4.45pm)
Electronic artist Elaine Mai has captured the imagination of many in a relatively short period of time. This is due in no small part to Mai’s unique approach to her sound and glistening production aesthetic.
Bantum – Sunday, August 3rd Homebeat Stage
Bantum will bring his broad electro sound (most recently seen in his new single ‘Oh My Days’) to the Homebeat stage at Castlepalooza 2014. Bantum’s live performances deliver all the deep-seated tone and mood seen in his studio work while expanding upon it.
The Hard Ground – Sunday, August 3rd Vodafone Main Stage (1.30pm)
Triptych: One was a stunning affirmation of the Hard Ground’s bustling melting pot of stylistic influences. A band with a live show that captures the mood, feel and dynamism found of the recent E.P, the Cork group will be a perfect fit for this year’s Castlepalooza festival.
Little Xs For Eyes – Sunday, August 3rd Vodafone Main Stage (2.15pm)
Little Xs For Eyes are currently working on their much-anticipated sophomore album. The indie-pop act’s sound is joyously vibrant with a strong emphasis on melody, making the six-piece a must see in any context.
Cave Ghosts – Sunday, August 3rd Vodafone Main Stage (3pm)
An emerging act with limitless promise, Cave Ghosts have undergone something of a sonic sea-change of late culminating in their recent captivating cover of ‘Come Into My World’. The group’s appearance at Castlepalooza 2014 will be an exciting opportunity to see Cave Ghosts’ continued rise to prominence .
Carriages – Sunday, August 3rd Homebeat Stage (7pm)
Returning from their recent Irish tour in support of the single ‘Roots/Significant Landscapes’, experimental-folk duo Carriages will play bring their enthralling electro tinged sound to the Homebeat stage this Sunday.
Cove – Sunday, August 3rd Metro Herald Stage (6.15pm)
Indietronica trio Cove are currently preparing the release of their sophomore E.P. this year. A live act that have a real knack for stealing the show, Cove will perform on the Metro Herald stage at this year’s Castlepalooza festival.
