The Mixed-Tape | Youth Mass – Old Enough to Know Better

Youth Mass

In this edition of our song of the week feature The Mixed-Tape  we turn our attention to Youth Mass and their latest single ‘Old Enough to Know Better’.

Taken from the group’s recent album Morning Run, Evening Sun, ‘Old Enough to Know Better’ contains a frantic alternative-rock meets electro-pop feel reminiscent of U2’s seminal genre blending landmark Achtung Baby.

Pulsing with a fast paced energy and pull forward by the song’s central percussive instrumentation and pounding drum patterns.

Wrapped around this sonic core is a fuzz laden fluorescent backdrop that keeps the music sounding progressive and alive. While above this sits the vocal which merges itself well into the rhythm and overall melodic feel of ‘Old Enough to Know Better’.

A stand-out moment in Youth Mass’s debut album, ‘Old Enough to Know Better’ captures the up-tempo indie-pop edge of the band’s music. Drawing from various styles and influences the track is irrepressibly infectious release from the four-piece.

It is for these reasons that ‘Old Enough to Know Better’ by Youth Mass is this week’s addition to The Mixed-Tape. The song’s parent album Morning Run Evening Sun, is out now (read our review here). To read previous additions to the feature click here or you can listen to all the tracks via our Spotify playlist
