The Scratch will be headed to Other Voices 2019 later this month to play the Dingle Gin Music Trail. Ahead of the band’s set at the intimate music festival in Kerry, The Scratch’s Conor Dockery spoke to TLMT about what he is listening to, the Other Voices experience and his 2019 highlights.
What’s the last song you listened to on Spotify?
Sorcha Richardson – First Prize Bravery
What’s the last record you bought?
Sharon Van Etten – Are We There (for my girlfriend but i also love the album)
What is influencing your music right now?
Underworld – Beaucoup Fish
What do you think makes Other Voices such a special gig for artists to play?
I think it’s a mixture of location, time of year and history. It’s a beautiful setting for a festival at magical time of year. The gigs themselves play out in a very unique way whether it be on a pub floor or in St. James Church. Everyone brings their full energy to OV regardless of where they’re playing. Mix in it’s rich musical history and all the artists that have gone before and you have a special thing right there.
What other acts would you most recommend people see from the Other Voices?
I’ll give ya 3…Fehdah, The Murder Capital, Soda Blonde.
With 2019 coming at an end. What has been the highlight of your year?
We played our first gig abroad in London recently. We arrived at the venue to find out that they had been selling tickets separately to our promotor and that the gig was to be over capacity. Mad turn of events and a show we’ll never forget!
Other Voices 2019 will take place in Dingle, County Kerry from November 29th to December 1st. For more information visit othervoices.ie.
