Singer-songwriter Niamh Regan is set to captivate festival-goers at Body & Soul 2019 this summer. Niamh recently spoke to the Last Mixed Tape about what she’s listening to at the moments, her inspirations and future plans.
What’s the last record you bought?
The last record I bought was Laura Marling: Semper Femina.
What’s the last song you played on Spotify?

What inspires your music?
Listening to others and their music. Listening with care takes time, discipline and focus to really hear all the sounds happening. But, the more I do, the more ideas I hear, the better the music sounds and the more I want to improve and play myself.
Reading and films really inspire my music too. Anything that opens new thoughts or provides escape/enjoyment.
You are playing Body & Soul this summer. What can people expect from your set?
I hope to deliver a strong yet intimate set with a mix of my own material and two ballads of old. I am very excited to return to Body&Soul. In 2016, at the very beginning of my solo adventure, I played a slot just before one of my favourite Irish Bands Saint Sister at the festival. The memory of sheer nerves before that set will never leave me. I was more scared than excited and felt out of my depths. Returning now, two years later after releasing my solo EP, playing supports, preparing my album and gaining incredible experiences, I feel more than ready this time and excited to share where my music is at now.
What other acts on the line-up are you looking forward to seeing?
I’m really looking forward to hearing Princess Nokia live. I discovered her music from the Body & Soul First Line Up Playlist and was blown away. I’m also really excited for SOAK, Anna Mullarkey, Meltybrains? and Kate Tempest.
What are your future plans?
I’ve just started pre-production for my first album. I’ve been preparing for the past two years, so I am very excited to bring it to the studio now and work with some dream musicians. This year is all about getting the album just right and performing around Ireland as much as possible.
