Reading-based indie outfit Valeras will play a headline Irish show in Whelan’s this Thursday, February 28th. The band recently took the time to speak to the Last Mixed Tape about what they’re listening to, influences and future plans.

What’s the last record you bought?
The Districts – Telephone on vinyl.

What’s the last song you played on Spotify?
Chaka Khan – Like Sugar from our tour playlist.

What inspires your music?
Rock comes naturally to us as we grew up listening to it but we have an eclectic range of influences from Latin music to jazz to RnB. From Black Sabbath to Destiny’s Child. Whatever gets us excited in the rehearsal room!

You’ll be playing Whelan’s in Dublin this Thursday. What can people expect from your live show?
Energy and passion, dancing, singing, cowbell. We put our all into every gig and are looking forward to our first ever show in Dublin.

What are your plans for 2019?
We’re currently booking as many festivals as possible, in the UK and outside too. We are also writing, recording and releasing a lot of new material this year that we can’t wait to share!

Tickets to see Valeras live in Whelan’s on February 28th are €13 and are on sale now via whelanslive.com. Doors are at 8pm with support from Cherym.
