TLMT on Film series to take place at the Lighthouse Cinema this July

The Last Mixed Tape is proud to announce it will be curating a series of music-based films at the Lighthouse Cinema this July. 

Taking place every Tuesday throughout July, TLMT on Film will feature in-depth panel discussions and screenings of four specially handpicked movies by the Last Mixed Tape’s Stephen White.

TLMT on Film at the Lighthouse will feature:

Shut Up And Play The Hits  – Tuesday, July 4th
Documenting LCD Soundsystem’s “final” gig at Madison Square Garden in 2011 by following frontman James Murphy over a 48 hour period before and after the show, Shut Up And Play The Hits takes an in-depth look into what was a curtain call for both band and artist that was simply electric.

Love & Mercy – Tuesday, July 11th
Few artists are deserving of the title “genius”, Brian Wilson is one of them. Starring both John Cusack and Paul Dano as the man behind the Beach Boys sound and containing some uncanny recreations of the recording sessions that produced one the greatest albums of all time, Love & Mercy is an emotional roller coaster ride into the life and struggles of a true musical pioneer.

This Is Spinal Tap – Tuesday, July 18th
A mockumentary that so well captured the rising pomposity of hard rock music in the late 70’s/early 80’s This Is Spinal Tap was deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress and selected for preservation by the United States National Film Registry. An instantly quotable, and timeless comedy.

The Punk Singer – Tuesday, July 25th
Kathleen Hanna was one of the founding figures of the feminist riot grrl movement, fronting bands such as Bikini Kill and Le Tigre. Tracing Hanna’s troubled childhood, her rise to prominence within the 90’s punk rock scene, solo career and battle with Lyme disease, The Punk Singer is an inspirational insight into a musical icon.
