In this latest edition of The Last Mixed Tape’s song-of-the-week feature The Mixed-Tape we turn our attention to Hawk and their latest single ‘Take It Away’.

A hard-hitting alternative-rock track that broods with an ominous atmosphere from beginning to end, ‘Take It Away’ finds Hawk taking on victim blaming with a song inspired by singer Julie Hawk’s friend being followed home late one night.

With this message at the forefront of ‘Take It Away’, the music contorts and persists in creating a mood that mirrors the frustration of the lyrics with trudging guitars, snapping beats and vocally reaching choruses.
