With Metropolis 2016 just around the corner the installations aspect of the winter festival has been announced.
This year’s Metropolis festival will include works such as Andy Warhol Silver Clouds, 16th Daisies, Algorithim’s bespoke stage designs and installations from the Do-Lab.
Metropolis have also teamed up with Labyrinth, an art collective that are producing a projected installation and petition piece in partnership with REPEAL Project. April Delaney of Labyrinth says “Since repeal seeks to give a voice to an issue that needs to be heard, we thought it would be interesting to literally project the issue further using a projection installation that will exist as an alternative interpretation of the traditional petition format.”
This digital petition will be available to for people to sign, with each signature becoming a part of an audio-visual installation, curated in collaboration with Algorithm, some of Ireland’s finest live visual operators. Plus, there will be limited edition REPEAL clothing on sale at the RDS for the festival, all the proceeds of which will go to REPEAL Project. Further details will be available on www.repeal.ie this week.
Metropolis 2016 will take place at the RDS in Dublin from Thursday, November 3rd to Saturday, November 5th across 8 stages and will include live sets from acts like Groove Armada (DJ Set) | Grace Jones | Girl Band | Crystal Castles | New Jackson | Clams Casino | Novelist | Mall Grab | Floating Points (3hr DJ Set) | Klangkarussell | Shura | Jack Garratt | Paul Kalkbrenner | Mount Kimbie (opening party) | Cyril Hahn and more.
