Canalaphonic 2016 will takeover Dublin this weekend (Friday, September 23rd & Saturday, September 24th) boasting over 100 acts in a plethora of venues and all of it is FREE.

TLMT has delved into this year’s line-up to give you its guide to this year’s festival. See below for full run down, playlist and timetable.

Leinster Cricket Club: Main Stage

Jem Mitchell – Friday: 6pm
An engrossing and emotionally driven songwriter Jem Mitchell and band take to the Canalaphonic main stage at the Leinster Cricket Club this Friday evening.

BARQ – Friday: 7pm
It has been one hell of a summer for soul and R&B melding outfit BARQ, filled with festival appearances and stand-out tracks. Catch them on the Canalaphonic main stage this Friday.

The Eskies – Friday: 8pm
The Eskies continue their momentum following the release of their debut album After The Sherry Went Round last year with a headline slot on the main stage at Canalaphonic 2016.

AE Mak – Saturday: 4pm
Alternative-pop meets post-punk, AE Mak a very exciting new prospect on the Irish music scene.

Mick Pyro – Saturday: 5pm
Irish music legend Mick Pyro will play a solo set this Saturday evening as part of Canalaphonic. Simply a must see.

Zaska – Saturday: 7pm
I’ve said it once, I’ll say it again. Go see Zaska!

Rocstrong – Saturday: 8pm
Rocstrong has truly come into his own this year with the release of his debut E.P. SOWYG as well as several stand-out festival slots, this Saturday will be no different.

TLMT Presents: The Harbour Playhouse

Cut Once / Bad Bones / Swords – Friday: 9pm – 11pm
So, first things first. The Last Mixed Tape has curated the Harbour Playhouse stage and I am absolutely delighted with the line-up I have in store for you this Friday night. So go see them all: Cut Once, Bad Bones and Swords! Is this favoritism? Yes, yes it is.

Whelan’s

Thumper – Friday: 9pm (upstairs)
One of Ireland’s most exciting live bands Thumper will play as part of Retro Revival Club’s line-up at Canalaphonic 2016. They’re recent E.P. Magun Opuss is one of the records of the year.

New Valley Wolves – Friday: 10pm (upstairs)
New Valley Wolves recent single ‘Silver Tongue’ and live performances have highlighted the band as a force to be reckoned with on the scene.

Mother Mooch – Friday: 1am (upstairs)
Late night set from Mother Mooch who will headline the Mother Fuzzers Ball on Friday night.

Mongoose – Saturday: 9pm (main venue)
Jazz-folk outfit Mongoose really came into their own with their latest single ‘Doing Things Wrong’, showcases a more nuanced and depthful side to their music.

CC Brez – Saturday: 9.45pm (main venue)
Irish funk and soul aficionado CC Brez will bring his vivid take on the genres to the main stage in Whelan’s. A guaranteed must see.

Opium Rooms

Vernon Jane – Friday: 8.45pm
Fast becoming one of the bands of the moment, Vernon Jane’s loud, tour de force take on indie, jazz and blues music blends into one big working beast of a sound.

Elephant: Saturday: 7.45pm
Dundalk based singer-songwriter with a spellbinding voice and reverb soaked sound. One to watch!

Kevyn – Saturday: 8.45pm
Kevyn recent evolution as a band has been something I’ve followed with great fascination over the past couple of months. How this translates live will be compelling to see.

Gavin Glass – Saturday: 9.45pm
Gavin Glass will bring the Opium Rooms stage at Canalaphonic 2016 to a close on Saturday night, if recent sets are anything to go by it’ll be a barnstormer.

The Bernard Shaw

Katie Laffan – Friday: 11pm
Katie Laffan has continued her upward momentum with a summer filled with festival appearances. Laffan will play as part of the Word Up Collective’s night at the Bernard Shaw.

Feather – Saturday: 9pm
Afro-soul artist Feather will be taking to the stage at the Bernard Shaw this Saturday. Feather is without doubt one of the artists to watch in the coming months.

Fox Jaw – Saturday: 10pm
Alternative-rock act Fox Jaw will directly follow Feather on the Bernard Shaw stage showcasing the broad range of music encompassed within the Canalaphonic 2016 line-up.

The Barge

Ailbhe Reddy

Tadgh – Friday: 10pm
Tadgh plays the Sound Feed’s stage at the Barge late on Friday night, the genre mixing artist’s single ‘Bad Move’ got it premiere here on TLMT.

The Statics – Friday: 11pm
The Statics ready the release of their debut studio album See Right Through with a headline set at the Barge stage at Canalaphonic 2016.

Ailbhe Reddy – Saturday: 11pm
One of the songwriters of the year, Ailbhe Reddy has made her mark on 2016 with the brilliant E.P. Hollowed Out Sea and this will be a performance I’ll definitely be catching this Saturday.

Lock 6

R.S.A.G – Friday: 9.30pm
Following a show-stopping special appearance at Knockanstockan 2016, as well as several festivals this summer R.S.A.G will once again take the bull by the horns on the Lock 6 stage at Canalaphonic 2016.

Heroes In Hiding – Saturday: 8pm
Coming hot on the heels of their brilliant new single ‘Hospital’, Heroes In Hiding will take part in this year’s Canalaphonic festival.

Out & About

Homebeat presents – Saturday: 34 Lennox Street 3.45pm – 7pm
Our friends at Homebeat have a great line-up in-store at their HQ 34 Lennox Street this Saturday evening including Let’s Set Sail, Anna Mieke Bish and Participant. Good start to day two at Canalaphonic 2016.

Rosa Nutty – Saturday: Alan Hanna’s Bookshop 4pm
Singer-songwriter Rosa Nutty plays an intimate evening set at Alan Hanna’s bookshop as part of Canalaphonic. A very promising new artist.

Roisin El Cherif – Saturday: Slattery’s 9pm
Fiercely unique new songwriter on the scene Roisin El Cherif will be performing as part of the Slattery’s line-up at this year’s festival. A definite one for the future.

Hvmmingbyrd – Saturday: Blackbird 10pm
After just releasing their latest E.P. Know My Name, Hvmmingbyrd will bring their alternative-pop sound to the Blackbird this Saturday.

Brass Phantoms – Saturday: Rody Boland’s 10pm
Brass Phantoms will be a must see at this year’s Canalaphonic, prepare for post-punk sounds at Rody Boland’s on Saturday.
