In this week’s edition of The Last Mixed Tape’s song-of-the-week feature The Mixed-Tape we turn our attention to Heroes In Hiding and their latest single ‘Hospital’.

‘Hospital’ is a song filled with great vivid rhythm. The latest offering from indie outfit Heroes In Hiding, the track finds the group once again expanding the boundaries of their music.

The inclusion of found sound elements to Heroes In Hiding sound gives their indie-pop sound a hint of Public Service Broadcasting-esque (specifically The Race for Space) post-rock ambition, making ‘Hospital’ all the more engrossing whilst also keeping the hooks and melodic lushness in tact.

Coupled with the single’s central theme, the near death experience of band member Joe Carroll, there seems to an added pathos to ‘Hospital’ that bodes very well for the group future. It will be interesting to hear how they push things forward.
