In this week’s edition of The Last Mixed Tape’s song-of-the-week feature The Mixed-Tape we turn our attention to Colour Canyon and their new single ‘Neon’.
Following on from their debut single ‘Home’, ‘Neon’ finds Colour Canyon continuing to tap the rich synth-pop vein that characterized it’s predecessor.
Set to a broad canvas of distant crashes of rhythm and glistening synth lines, the track has a wonderful depth of field to it that feeds perfectly into the softly centered vocal that occupies the core of the song.
Who Colour Canyon are as a band is beginning to take shape before our eyes. ‘Neon’ is an immersive extension of this evolution, and it’s one that comes already fully formed. The sounds, production and songwriting is all there. What the duo come up with next, will be both exciting and welcoming to see.
