In the build-up to Knockanstockan 2016 TLMT has asked bands from this year’s line-up to choose their own festival mixed-tape, and tell us about what they’re looking forward seeing at Blessington in July.
This time it’s the turn of genre breaking R&B outfit BARQ. Read below to see what they have to say and check out who they’ve chosen for their Spotify playlist. Photo credit: Pedro Giaguinto.
Nine years of Knockanstockan! It’s incredible to see how much this festival grows every year, while still retaining the community feel that makes it so fantastic to be involved with.
Knockanstockan has become the leading supporter of homegrown talent in the Irish festival season and it’s not surprising that everyone is seriously excited to play there! The quality of the festival really seems to be moving in tandem with the quality of music being produced in Ireland, and a properly ridiculous amount of amazing new music has been released here over the last year. This is the perfect place to immerse your being in all the musical glory of this country’s creativity!
Also, as musicians, one of the best things about being involved with the festival is that it gives bands like us a chance to see/hear/discover all the acts that we regularly encounter in our social media lives but rarely get to see perform in actual real life because we’re usually gigging ourselves! Getting to listen in the beautiful surroundings of Blessington, Co. Wicklow only adds to this experience.
It was really tough to pick only ten acts that we’re looking forward to hearing over the weekend, but we decided to go for a mix of new music that had caught our attention recently, as well as some bands that have been on the go for quite some time that we know will deliver a monster festival set!
There are also plenty of acts we can’t wait to see that aren’t on Spotify! Including; Wastefellow, Farah Elle, Sarah Red, Mixtapes From The Underground, Mescalito, Stephen James Smith, and of course, The Viper!
