Canalaphonic 2016 has been announced today, with the highly successful music festival announcing details of it’s sophomore event.
Following last year’s festivities, Canalaphonic 2016 will return on September 23rd and 24th with events happening all over the Rathmines/Portobell area and now including the addition of the Leinster Cricket Club as the main outdoor venue with a capacity of 5,000.
The festival will also showcase some of the best acts in Irish independent music with more than 120 artists participating, including Rocstrong, The Eskies, Zaska, Mongrel State, Barq, Mongoose, White_Mice, The Word Up Collective, Mother Mooch, Late City Edition, Fox E and the Good Hands, Travis Oaks, Homebeat Events, T.A.S.T.E and many more to be announced. A Canalaphonic 2016 launch night will take place this Thursday, May 5th at Copan, Rathmines with performances from BARQ and Damola. Doors are at 8pm.
Canalaphonic Festival continue with their commitment to Play for Pay, whilst providing free entry to all events for lovers of music, arts and culture. The return of Canal Bank Market at Portobello and a family fun area in St. Marys College together with new venues this year including The National Concert Hall Quarter’s “Vaults”, Opium and Whelan’s of Wexford St will make this one of the coolest events of 2016.
The festival is the result of an ongoing collaboration between Dublin City Council’s South East Area Office and Abner Browns Barbershop, supported by Fáilte Ireland, Clancourt Group, Waterways Ireland, Dublin City Council Arts Office, IMRO, Heineken, McGarrell Reilly Group and Rohan Holdings.
