Irish indie legends Bell X1 have returned with ‘The Upswing’, taken from the band’s forthcoming new album Arms.
A patient indie ballad bustling with Bell X1’s characteristic textural and emotive take on the genre, ‘The Upswing’ is as effecting a song as you’d come to expect from the band.
With slight shades of R&B added to Bell X1’s sound the group’s latest release is a compelling intro into their upcoming Arms album.
Add to that Paul Noonan’s ability to give even the most off-kilter lyric an air of emotional weight (see the Star Wars reference: “These aren’t the droids your looking for”), ‘The Upswing’ is a very welcome return from Bell X1.
Bell X1 live dates:
April 22nd & 23rd – Vicar St (sold-out)
July 16th – Galway Arts Festival
Aug bank holiday – Indiependence, Cork
