In the latest edition of T.L.M.T’s song of the week feature The Mixed-Tape we turn our attention to I Have A Tribe’s latest single ‘La Neige’.
“Take the right to be human” pleads Patrick O’Laoghaire in the final moments of his latest single ‘Le Neige’. It’s a hell of sentiment to exit on, but then O’Laoghaire is a hell of a songwriter.
An artist with the ability to say everything with a few spartan lyrics, I Have A Tribe takes us through hope (“now a change is coming, the pain has let the sun in”) and inner turmoil (“there are two voices and one head, one I strive to let live, one I wish to see dead”) in a way that both is real and heartfelt. This has always been key to IHAT’s music, making the personal universal.
Add to this O’Laoghaire’s captivating voice and a production that follows the emotion rather than leads it, and we have a compelling glimpse into I Have A Tribe’s debut album Beneath A Yellow Moon.
