In the latest edition of T.L.M.T’s song of the week feature The Mixed-Tape we turn our attention i am niamh’s new single ‘Hang On’.
The second single to be taken from i am niamh’s immersive debut album Wonderland (read TLMT’s full review – here), ‘Hang On’ poses a suitably different prospect to the alternative-pop verve of the L.P’s lead single and title track.
Instead, ‘Hang On’ is a tangled cascade of melody and rhythm. Flowing with the album’s dreamlike quality, the song encapsulates a sense of curious beauty that runs through each urgent passage of melding vocal and popping synth.
A track that showcases the truly alternative nature of its parent album, ‘Hang On’ also highlights the diversity of i am niamh as a songwriter who is not tied down to just one specific sound or style.
