Jazz-folk songwriter Riona Sally Hartman is set to celebrate the release of her forthcoming debut album Big Starving Thing with a show at Smock Alley on June 14th.
Due for release this coming Monday, May 18th Riona Sally Hartman’s first studio L.P. has been a long time in the making. In the Autumn of last year Hartman successful ran a Fund:it campaign to have the album released, speaking to TLMT at the time the songwriter said;
The album is a much more ambitious project, not just in terms of length but the production, arrangements, instrumentation, songwriting…etc. is all much more ambitious than the EP. I’ve been non stop solidly gigging, recording, studying and teaching music since we recorded my EP and I’ve got a much more cohesive vision of the music I want to make and a better understanding of how to make it than I did then.
With Big Starving Thing now a reality, Riona will mark the occassion with a gig in the suitably intimate surroudings of Dublin’s Smock Alley theatre on June 14th. Tickets are available now via smockalley.com. Doors are at 8pm.
