Manchester indie legends Happy Mondays are set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their seminal album Pills ‘N’ Thrills and Bellyaches at Vicar Street on December 10th.
Released in 1990 via Tony Wilson’s groundbreaking independent label Factory Records and produced by Paul Oakenfold & Steve Osbourne, Pills ‘N’ Thrills and Bellyaches is one of many high-points to come out of the Manchester music scene dominant reign in 80’s and 90’s.
Featuring several of Happy Mondays most recognizable tracks, including the singles ‘Kinky Afro’ and ‘Step On’, the group’s third record was met with wide-spread acclaim upon it release for its unique merging of electronica and dance rhythms with Manchester’s distinct indie swagger.
The album’s, and indeed the band’s, influence still seen in music around the world today. Happy Mondays will take the landmark album on tour once again this year with the original line-up, including a show on December 10th in Vicar Street, Dublin.
