The Mixed-tape

The Mixed-Tape | Groom – Another Day

Groom

In this edition of T.L.M.T’s song of the week feature The Mixed-Tape we turn our attention to Groom and their farewell single ‘Another Day’.

With Groom playing their final live show in Whelan’s last Friday night it seems only fitting that the group’s final song be this week’s choice for The Mixed-Tape.

Although written and recorded around the time Groom were making what would be their last album Bread and Jam, ‘Another Day’ does has prophetic, retrospective indie-pop jangle to it that perfectly fits the occasion.

Still incased with Groom’s distinct take on the genre, ‘Another Day’ finds the four-piece at their most gentle while still maintaing the same bite that made ‘I’ve Never Been In A Real Fight’ and ‘Charlie O’Loughlin Fuk Dat Shit’ so attention grabbing.

A great end to one of Dublin’s great indie-pop bands, ‘Another Day’ provides a cathartic close to the bands career and showcases exactly how the group have helped shape the sound of many of today’s emerging indie acts, and that kind of legacy is something to be cherished.
