Classic Vinyl Sunday returns with ‘The Velvet Underground & Nico’

Classic Vinyl Sunday

Monthly music event Classic Vinyl Sunday returns to the Twisted Pepper on January 25th with the seminal art-rock album The Velvet Underground & Nico.

Following last November’s highly successful look at Pink Floyd’s the Wall, this month Classic Vinyl Sunday will focus on the Velvet Underground’s 1967 debut album The Velvet Underground & Nico.

A landmark in the 60’s art-rock music scene the album features some of the band’s most recognizable tracks including ‘Venus In Furs’, ‘Sunday Morning’ & ‘I’m Waiting For The Man’, and was co-produced by iconic pop artist Andy Warhol.

Speaking about the event and choice of album co-organizer Mark Whelan explains: “When the likes of Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin and The Velvet Underground were recording their masterpieces, they didn’t intend for them to be heard on weak laptop speakers, as an ultra-compressed mp3s. These classic albums are supposed to be listened to from start to finish, on exceptional vinyl, on top-quality speakers, in the presence of friends and fellow fans. Up to 90% of original recorded material is lost when a track is converted to mp3, music fans deserve better!”

Admission to this month’s ‘Classic Vinyl Sunday’ at the Twisted Pepper on January 25th  is €10 and will include a free 3FE coffee or glass of wine. Tickets are on sale via eventbrite.ie.

Doors are at 5pm, for more information visit the event’s Facebook page.
