In our first 2015 edition of T.L.M.T’s song of the week feature The Mixed-Tape we turn our attention to Alien Envoy and their new single ‘Resolution’.
A song driven by a bang and clatter of percussion and a methodically rhythmical vocal delivery ‘Resolution’ is a post-punk tinged centre-piece of Alien Envoy’s latest album Loads.
Moving with intent and focus, the band’s new single jumps quickly and purposely through Nick Kelly’s lyrical resolutions as the music burns slowly behind songwriter.
Building to a sudden, abrupt thunderous crash of drums and a large-scale dynamic lift the mood changes from passive to aggressive intent, finishing the track with a pulsating crescendo to bring the single’s succinct nature to an impactful close.
‘Resolution’ is steeped in meaning, clarity and need. Providing a hard-edge, stark post-punk/indie feel with its straight-up structure, deft production and powerful delivery the song is an encapsulation of the overall mood of Alien Envoy’s latest record Loads.
