Irish indie legend and founding member of the Pogues Cait O’Riordan will play a special Christmas show in Whelan’s upstairs venue this Friday, December 12th.

Entitled ‘Fairytale on Camden Street’, O’Riordan’s set this weekend will look to evoke the same fiery energy that fueled the Pogues early shows in the close quarters, intimate setting of Whelan’s upstairs venue.

Apearring on some of the Pogues most celebrated albums, Red Roses for Me and the seminal Rum, Sodomy and the Lash, O’Riordan was integral member of the group and its trad-punk sound. While also performing vocals on one of the Last Mixed Tape’s favorite songs of all time ‘Haunted’ (from the Sid & Nancy soundtrack).

Following her departure from the Pogues in 1986, O’Riordan has performed with a plethora of musicians including: The Radiators from Space, Hothouse Flowers, Mundy, Gavin Friday and Jerry Fish.

Tickets to see Cait ‘Rocky’ O’Riordan play Whelan’s upstairs’ this Friday night are priced at €12 and are available via whelanslive.com. Doors are at 8pm, with support from Marcas Carcas.
