Monster Monster – Bello Bar

Monster Monster

Monster Monster celebrated the release of their new single ‘Assassin Assassin’ at the Bello Bar last Thursday night.

Performing their first live show since forming earlier in the year, Monster Monster took to the stage at the intimate Dublin venue confidently performing their jazz tinged take on the alternative-pop genre.

Creating a definite dynamism to the show, the group moved through up-tempo numbers to quieter more intimate moments strongly supported by the bands interplay and centered around rhythmical twists and turns that were integral to band’s sound as a live act.

Performing tracks such as their current single ‘Assassin Assassin’, ‘I Can’t Help Myself’ and the stand out ‘Christmas in Liverpool’ Monster Monster seemed in control of the multi-layered aesthetic of their sound, melding shuddering rock ‘n’ roll inflected guitar with soulful vocals.

What was most impressive was how well the band performed considering it was their debut show, with the musicians blending well together. Although a shaky cover of ‘You Only Live Twice’ did feel slightly out-of-place.

A strong, self-assured live show from Monster Monster at the Bello Bar, the band showcased that they are more than capable translating the deep-seated alternative-pop sound of their recordings into the live realm.
