In this edition of T.L.M.T’s song of the week feature The Mixed-Tape we turn our attention to Lyttet and their new single ‘Distance’.

A single populated by serene isolated vistas of sound, Lyttet’s latest work evokes the separation and longing that it’s title suggests.

Quick crashing peaks of rhythm impact upon then recede into the recording’s vast soundscape, giving the song a feeling a dynamic aspect and scale.

Supported by an undercurrent of washing harmonic and reverberant texture, vocalist Claire Nicole voice cuts through and merges with the glacial tone of the music. Resulting in an enchanting, yet ominous, performance Nicole becomes a part of the highly stylised production of ‘Distance’.

A single soaked in mood and isolated tone, ‘Distance’ is a stunning piece of atmospheric dream-pop from a duo with a keen sense of space and depth.

It is for these reasons that ‘Distance’ by Lyttet is this week’s addition to The Mixed-Tape. The single itself is out now via iTunes and as a 12″ vinyl on pre-order.
