Sails – Lakes

Dublin indie-folk act Sails have unveiled their new music video for the single ‘Lakes’.

Directed by Stephen Patrick Allen and set to the ominous percussive pounding of Sail’s latest single, the visuals play with a sense of space and scope that juxtapose the imagery from scene to scene.

Closely held and claustrophobic camera work begins the video and fixates on the band themselves within an enclosed locale. Then with a literal blink on eye, the setting moves to a vast lakeside landscape giving a sense of brief relief visually.

Juxtaposing the opening scenes the band explore this large-scale locale as Allen’s voyeuristic direction follows intently. Using the affecting vista to great affect, these scenes result in several beautifully composed pieces of cinematography as the visually begin to build with the dynamic crescendo of Sails’ music.

Performed with the Dublin band’s melodically and tonal defined music, ‘Lakes’ is a greatly affecting piece of indie-folk with a fully realized sound achieved through large-scale production. All of which is matched by the grandeur of Stephen Patrick Allen’s equally evocative music video.
