The Pavilion in Cork has closed

The Cork music scene has been hit by the news that one of its most prominent live venues the Pavilion has closed today.

The Pavilion took to both Twitter and Facebook today to announce that it’s doors will close permanently, while thanking all it’s staff, the band’s, DJ’s and fans who have performed, worked at and attended the Cork venue over the years. See the two tweets below.

A plethora of the countries most influential and rising acts have performed at the venue through out its run, including September Girls, the Hot Sprockets, Nanu Nanu, O Emperor, Sleep Thieves, the Minutes and Girls Names. 

The Pavilion has also been a central live music spot for Cork’s bustling indie scene and has had several of these promising act pass through it’s doors, such as the Vincent(s), Elastic Sleep, the Altered Hours, the Hard Ground, Toy Soldier and the Shaker Hymn. 

The Last Mixed Tape would like to wish all the staff and everyone involved with the Pavilion the very best in the future.
