Irish rock ‘n’ roll outfit the Strypes are set to return to the scene of one of their first ever live show as they headline Sweeney’s 5th birthday this Friday night, July 11th.
Making the announcement today Sweeney’s promoter Bettine McMahon has been quoted as saying about the Strypes upcoming appearance at the venue that:
“The staff in Sweeney’s have always admired The Strypes from the moment they walked through our doors as young teenagers with buckets of ambition and talent. All of us are so proud to watch them grow and gain every success they deserve. We are especially delighted that they accepted our invitation to celebrate our 5th Birthday with us this Friday before heading off to do gigs in Japan & Australia next week.”
While Styrpes member Josh McClory stated: “We love Sweeney’s because it was the very first venue we played in Dublin…we were so nervous!”. Read the full statements here.
The rhythm & blues influenced band, whose début album Snapshot captured the global indie scene’s imagination so effectively last year, will be joined on the night by Betty Swing Machine, Kicking Bird, Redwoods, Sarah Red, Conor Linnie, Leading Armies, St. John the Gambler, Richie Farrell & the Last Tribe and Dublin Tropikal DJ’s iZEM & Jrmy Murphy.
Admission to Sweeney’s 5th birthday show on Friday, July 11th is free with doors at 6pm.
