The Mixed-Tape | Gangs – Daisy

Brighton Gangs

In this edition of our song of the week feature The Mixed-Tape the spotlight turns to ‘Daisy’ the first single to be taken from Gangs’ upcoming E.P Back To School.

From the opening, sudden blast of drums to the jolting rhythm of guitar and soulful delivery of Jordan Curtis’ vocal, ‘Daisy’ moves quickly to showcase the sheer energy of Gangs’ live sound within this perfectly set studio recording.

Rattling, shaking and infectiously hook-laden the indie-rock elements and swaggering confidence of the Dublin band’s music comes into focus as the song’s succinct pace jumps from one raucous section to the next. Indeed so well-timed is the track that Gangs leave no second go to waste, filling each moment with the group’s powerful sound.

What is most impressive about ‘Daisy’ is the irrepressible feel of the song, with each brilliantly performed note Gangs convey everything that is unique and exciting about the four-piece. In context of début releases, the track portrays a band who have worked hard to get their music to where they want and are now ready to unleash it on the public.

A more timely and relevant début will be hard to come by in the coming year, as Gangs bring forth all the attitude and straight-up tone of their sound into a single that works as an exciting glimpse at the band’s singular indie-rock style and upcoming E.P, Back To School.

It is for these reasons that ‘Daisy by Gangs is this week’s addition to The Mixed-TapeTo read the previous additions to the feature click here.
