The Westport music festival 2014 will take place this weekend (Saturday, June 28th and Sunday June 29th). Featuring an exciting array of artists here is the Last Mixed Tape’s 10 must see acts.
Windings – Róisín Dubh Stage, Sunday June 29th (6.30pm)
Following the release of their stellar split L.P with Land Lovers this year, Windings have been extensively touring and will bring their powerful live show to the Westport Festival on Sunday.
Tvvins – Róisín Dubh Stage, Saturday June 28th (5.30pm)
With the visceral melding of indie-rock and electro music seen in Tvvin’s brillant single ‘You Better’ coupled with the duo’s equally effective live show the band’s set on the Róisin Dubh stage will be a must for all festival goers.
Maud In Cahoots – Róisín Dubh Stage, Sunday June 29th (3.30pm)
Dublin duo Maud In Cahoots captured the imagination with their single ‘Dance With Me’ and several stellar live performances (including a brilliant headline show in Whelan’s) last year. Delivering their unique alternative-pop sound, the duo will play the Westport Festival 2014 this Sunday.
Dott – Róisín Dubh Stage, Sunday June 29th (4.30pm)
Dott’s brilliant début album Swoon captured the band’s hook-laden garage-pop sound perfectly. With a live style that plays into all the vibrancy of their studio work the Galway group will be one of many highlights at this year’s Westport Festival.
We Cut Corners – Róisín Dubh Stage, Sunday June 29th (7.40pm)
Continuing the strong momentum from their sophomore L.P Think Nothing We Cut Corners will bring the dynamic brilliance of their live shows to the Westport on Sunday night at the Róisín Dubh stage.
Little Green Cars – Róisín Dubh Stage, Saturday June 28th (10pm)
Indie-folk act Little Green Cars continue their ascendancy following the runaway success
of their début album Absolute Zero. A group with an expansive sound, their set this Saturday will be one of the must see performances of the weekend.
Bell X1 – Marquee Stage, Sunday June 29th (9.45pm)
Irish indie-rock legends Bell X1 will take their Chop Chop album tour to the Westport Festival headlining the Marquee stage this Sunday night.
The Hot Sprockets – Marquee Stage, Saturday June 28th (4.10pm)
Coming off the back of several stellar live show around the country this summer already (including a ground shaking set at YouBloom 2014) the Hot Sprockets will bring their energetic sound to Westport this Saturday.
Elaine Mai – Róisín Dubh Stage, Sunday June 29th (5.20pm)
Electro artist Elaine Mai will bring her vivid musical style to the Róisín Dubh Stage on Sunday. Mai recently released her new E.P Known/Unknown which features the stellar single ‘EDC’.
The Cast of Cheers – Róisín Dubh Stage, Saturday June 28th (8.40pm)
A band with a highly respected live sound Dublin indie-rock outfit the Cast of Cheers will take to the Róisín Dubh Stage on Saturday night at Westport. With all the hook-laden feel and energy of the group’s 2012 second album Family the four-piece will be a must see act this weekend.
