The Mixed-Tape | Oh Boland – I’m So Clean

Popical Island

Oh Boland

In this edition of our song of the week feature The Mixed-Tape the spotlight turns to ‘I’m So Clean’ from Oh Boland.

Taken from Oh Boland’s half of their split L.P with Me & My Dog (entitled Delphi) ‘I’m So Clean’ is a gloriously ragged piece of garage-pop that growls and jangles its way through its succinct running time.

From the opening rattle of drums to the sudden bursts of over-driven guitar the sonic core of Oh Boland’s music is caught perfectly within this recording.

Working like a brilliantly augmented indie-pop song, the band rip apart the hook-laden choruses and grooving verses with large-scale blasts of noise, ranting vocals and a frantic drumming that add to the overall tone of ‘I’m So Clean’.

A visceral, blistering song ‘I’m So Clean’ captures the attention and showcases the raw energy of Oh Boland’s individualistic take on the garage-pop genre. Imbued with a swaggering nihilism the song works as the perfect introduction to the Galway trio.

It is for these reasons that ‘I’m So Clean by Oh Boland is this week’s addition to The Mixed-Tape. The song’s parent album Delphi is out nowTo read the previous additions to the feature click here.
