10 must see acts at Body & Soul 2014


Body & Soul 2014 will take place from this Friday, June 20th to Sunday, June 22nd at Ballinlough Castle in County Westmeath. A festival imbued with a broad variety of music, art and culture here is the Last Mixed Tape’s 10 must see acts.

Margie Lewis – Pagoda Stage, Saturday June 21st (9.30pm)
An artist with a vastly textured and vibrant sound, Margie Lewis is a truly compelling musician with a sound that traverses various styles and genres. One of the countries most promising acts her performance on the Pagoda stage will be a must.

Booka Brass Band – Body & Soul Stage, Saturday June 21st (4pm)
Bringing their booming brass infused sound to this year’s main stage line-up at Body & Soul, Booka Brass Band have consistently captured the imagination with their brilliantly energetic live sets.

Kuv′ən – Wonderlust Stage, Sunday June 22nd (5.30pm)
Laura Sheeran and Linda Buckley will be making their début as Kuv′ən (sans third member Kate Ellis) at Body & Soul 2014. With the artists’ uncompromising, broad musical styles this new project is an exciting prospect that will bring an atmospheric aspect to the festival.

Interskalactic – Body & Soul Stage, Saturday June 21st (2pm)
Furthering in the stylistic spectrum of this year’s festival Interskalactic will bring their unique Jamaican Ska and 2 tone influenced music to the main stage on Saturday.

Donal Dineen – Wonderlust Stage, Friday June 20th (1am)
One of the great curators of the Irish music scene Donal Dineen will be performing in Body & Soul’s Wonderlust stage this weekend. An artist who works through an array of mediums including radio, film, live visuals and music, Dineen’s set at this year’s event will be sure to present an alternative take on the festival experience.

King Kong Company – Body & Soul Stage, Sunday June 22nd (1pm)
Fusing a myriad of dance floor filling genres and styles Waterford based electronica band the King Kong Company will bring their vivid, energetic live show to Body & Soul 2014.

Jerry Fish – Good Time Lounge, Saturday June 21st (12.30am)
An artist with a constantly evolving style and approach, indie legend Jerry Fish’s recent tour of Electric Sideshow and The Songs & Tall Tales of… showcase the songwriter’s vibrant, broad take on live music performance. Always engaging, exciting and engrossing Jerry Fish will play the Good Time Lounge stage at this year’s Body & Soul festival.

Deaf Joe – Wonderlust Stage, Sunday June 22nd (7pm)
With the release of his stand-out sophomore record From The Heights of a Dream, Deaf Joe re-affirmed the deep individuality of his music. Furthering the broad stylistic tone of Body & Soul the songwriter’s show this Sunday will prove to be as engaging as his recent release.

Young Wonder – Body & Soul Stage, Saturday June 21st (3pm)
Cork electro-pop duo Young Wonder captured the attention of the Irish music scene last year with their stunning E.P False Teeth. The pair’s performance at Electric Picnic 2013 also provided one of the many highlights of the event. A group with an engrossing live aesthetic Young Wonder will deliver an enchanting, eclectic sound to Body & Soul 2014.

September Girls – Body & Soul Stage, Sunday June 22nd (2.15pm)
Following the release of the band’s brilliant first album Cursing The Sea this year, Dublin noise-pop act September Girls will continue their busy schedule touring the record (which included an appearance at SXSW 2014) with a set on the main stage at Body & Soul. A group with a live sound to match their deeply textured and powerful studio work, be sure to catch the five-piece at this year’s festival.
