New Zealand indie-pop and Dunedin sound legends the Chills are set to play the Button Factory in Dublin on Thursday, July 31st.
24 years since the group’s last performance in Ireland, playing Dublin’s the Baggot Inn in 1990, the Chills will return to play the Button Factory in support of their forthcoming 7″ single ‘Molten Gold’ and first European tour since 1996.
The band’s first new material in over a decade the upcoming release, due out on July 28th, will also feature a re-working of ‘Pink Frost’, a previous hit for the Chills in 1984.
Speaking about the decision to re-record ‘Pink Frost’, the Chills singer/songwriter Martin Phillips stated “At the end of the day, it’s my composition and I can record it as many times as I choose to! It is by no means meant to replace that very special original recording but it will sit proudly alongside it as one of the many approaches that could be taken with this most evocative and atmospheric song. I hope people will enjoy it in the spirit of it being a fresh and alternative companion piece to that original marvelous moment in time captured on tape many years ago.”
