Alternative-folk group Tupelo have unveiled their new music video for ‘Old Country’ taken from the band’s album Push On.
Directed by Patrick Murphy and infused with the organic soundscapes of Tupelo’s current album, the vast rural scope of Murphy’s video captures the dark brooding tone of ‘Old Country’ perfectly.
With the auteur’s camera focusing on large open landscapes and a rolling country side, the scene is set for visual aesthetic to blend with the scratching folk sound and emotive vocal of the recording.
Conveying, through a strong use imagery and production, the palpable sonic progression of ‘Old Country’ the visuals become increasingly surreal juxtaposing the more grounded shots found at the beginning, building to the frantically paced ending and final frames.
Patrick Murphy’s stylish direction and Tupelo’s pounding traditional folk aesthetic work together strongly to translated the dynamic depth found within the group’s sound mirroring the evocative nature of the recordings.
